shift-space underlines text in KDE

Problem: <shift>-<space> causes your text to be highlighted as you type in KDE on Linux.
You've searched the KDE Keyboard & Mouse configuration center, checked all of the Global Keyboard Shortcuts and Standard Keyboard Shortcuts and cannot find any definitions for shift-space. This is driving you NUTS!
Cause: SCIM (Smart Common Input Method) is changing your input locale
Solution: use scim-setup to remove the keyboard shortcut.
1. Press <alt>-<F2> to open the command dialog
2. type "scim-setup"
3. Click "Run scim-setup"
4. "Smart Common Input Method platform GUI Setup Utility" will open.
5. go to FrontEnd ->Global Setup and remove or change the "Trigger" and "Turn On" hotkeys (you will see a shift-space hotkey defined in there). go to "Turn Off" and define a "shift-space" hotkey.
Restart KDE (quickest way is "service xdm restart", "rcxdm restart", or simply reboot)
Now your input locale will no longer 'randomly' change.
